Summary of the Project

Wellube delivered a complete package of solutions to a client encompassing the engineering, design, and the supply of a 14” 600# Line Stop Tee for rerouting a high-pressure pipeline. Additionally, inservice welding, hot tapping, and line stopping were executed to facilitate the rerouting of the pipeline through a Tandem Double Double Scheme, incorporating a bypass.

Client Requirement

The client expressed the need to reroute the current high-pressure LPG pipeline without initiating a shutdown, aiming to avoid any production losses. Considering the existing pipeline’s river crossing and the substantial flow of river water, the pipeline was elevated 1m above the ground bottom level. 

Challenges Faced

• The site’s location posed a challenge as the pipeline rerouting involved crossing a river.
• The new pipeline spanned approximately 550 meters, and adverse weather conditions, such as heavy rain, made the movement between the upstream and downstream sides challenging.

Bespoke Solution Provided

Wellube team worked with the client to understand their requirements, we provided a complete end to end solution by engineering and designing the specialised line stop fittings as well as performing a series of services including In-Service Welding, Hot tapping and Line Stopping for the successful rerouting whilst maintaining the client’s efficient and reliable operation.  

As there was a river crossing which had a span of 550mtr in length, the movement of team, equipment, and earth moving equipment was a big challenge. However, considering the critical nature of our work, we made the above-mentioned arrangements at both ends of the river to tackle the challenges and to avoid loss of working time. A two-way communication was established between the entire site team and client for smooth coordination activity to ensure execution of the job with complete safety as per client and Wellube requirements.
