Summary of the Project

Wellube provided a 3-layer pile corrosion protection system inclusive of Pile-Shield^TM Primer, Wax-Tape® Anticorrosion Wrap System #1 and MCOTM 110 outer wrap for the protection of 23 piles for a leading oil and gas company in the UAE.

Client Requirement

The client wanted an anti-corrosion wrap to repair their jetty piles, they had contracted a leading integrated engineering and design contractor to provide them with a solution to the problem of corrosion as the rubber coating on some areas on the 23 jetty piles were removed.
The contractor reached out to Wellube, and we suggested the Trenton anti-corrosion solutions, following which we executed a demo at our facility for the end client, contractor and consulting company to showcase to them how the wrap system would be applied underwater. Following the demo, approvals were in place to provide the Pile-Shield TM Primer + Wax-Tape® #1+ MCOTM 110 outer wrap for the protection of 23 piles at Hamriyah Free Zone.

Challenges Faced

The client was familiar with the paint application of Interzone 101 as it was mentioned in the specifications sheet. The challenge was to introduce and convince the end user about the benefits of using the Wax-Tape® Anticorrosion Wrap System instead, this was successfully done during the live demo at our facility.

Unique Solution delivered

Wellube introduced the product and showcased its capabilities as well as application underwater through a demo at our facility, following which the client approved our solution of the Anticorrosion Wrap System from Trenton.
We delivered the 3-layer corrosion protection system: Pile-Shield^TM Primer + Wax-Tape® #1 + MCOTM 110 outerwrap for the protection of the 23 piles at Hamriyah Free Zone. A coating thickness of 3mm was achieved for our wrap system to meet the thickness of the existing neoprene coating on the piles.
